Baggage
You must check your baggage in at the counter designated
for this purpose by the airline, where you will be given your boarding
card and baggage receipt. For your own safety and the safety of other
passengers do not check in or carry with you any baggage for anyone
you do not know.
In addition to checked baggage passengers may carry
on board, as hand luggage, certain items of a limited weight and volume,
such as umbrellas, handbags, cameras and laptop computers, provided
they do not weigh more than the established limit of 6 kg and do not
exceed the maximum dimensions of 22 x 33 x 44 cm. If the hand luggage
fails to comply with these requirements it must be checked in for
stowage in the hold.
Airlines can reject baggage which does not conform
to weight or size restrictions.
For safety reasons, your baggage can be inspected
by X-ray. If your baggage contains articles which may be damaged ask
for it to be checked manually.
For greater peace of mind when travelling and to
help us with our procedures in the case of delay in providing you
with your baggage, we remind you that it is essential to label your
baggage on the outside, and we highly recommend labelling your baggage
on the inside as well, with your name, telephone number(s) and any other personal information to identify
your baggage.
Baggage is understood to be the set of items and personal effects which are necessary when making your journey, such as clothing, footwear, toiletries and your personal belongings. Your baggage must be packed appropriately so that it cannot damage other baggage or the structure of the aircraft, either due to its shape or volume. Please remember that your checked baggage must contain no hazardous items,
and we advise you not to pack any fragile, perishable or valuable, as the airline can accept no responsibility for them, beyond the limits stipulated by law, except where a special declaration of value has been made and provided that this falls within the terms and conditions established by the airline for this declaration. For the reasons explained, the airline advises you to carry items of this nature, whenever possible, in your hand luggage.
BinterCanarias accepts no responsibility for the general wear and tear of your baggage, on which certain manufacturers provide specific instructions for use, and regarding the ideal service life of parts, such as wheels and handles, as baggage may undergo normal and inevitable wear and tear during the check-in process and whilst being transferred between airports.
Baggage Allowance:
The carriage of your baggage, up to a certain allowance,
is included in the price of your ticket. Airlines usually allow 20
kg of personal effects to be carried on domestic flights.
Excess Baggage:
On acquiring their tickets, all passengers also
acquire the right to carry 20 kg of personal effects without charge.
This is called the free baggage allowance. Depending on the characteristics
of the plane, you may check in baggage over this weight by paying
the amount established for excess baggage. Information is available
at the check-in counter. Excess baggage is that which exceeds the
free baggage allowance for the class in which the passenger is flying,
and it will therefore be subject to additional charges.
Items you cannot carry with you on board the
plane:
EXTRA SEAT Baggage:
This is baggage which, because of its fragile nature
or value, is carried in the cabin at the passenger's request, using
or occupying an additional seat or additional seats, under the personal
custody of the passenger. These items may include, for example, musical
instruments, works of art or jewellery. The maximum weight limit is
75 kg per seat booked. Such items are not included in the passenger's
free baggage allowance. The fare will be that which the passenger
should have paid in the event of occupying the seat for the corresponding
sector, applicable at the time of booking the extra seat.
Products you are prohibited from carrying in your
baggage.
We would like to insist on a very important point
you should be aware of:
Although it may surprise you, some seemingly innocent products
can be dangerous on board a plane if they are included in your baggage.
A plane is not like a car. During the flight, changes
in temperature and pressure, as well as the movement of the aircraft,
can cause certain articles to leak or ignite. Because of this, the
following items must not be carried in your baggage:
Matches and lighters, as they can be ignited by
friction.
Pyrotechnical products which, due to their characteristics,
may go off.
Flammable liquids, fuels, paint, solvents, glue,
lighter refills and small camping gas cylinders, or substances which
may leak and cause fire.
Household items such as bleach and abrasives which
have chemical properties or substances which could cause toxic fumes
or corrosion.
Electronic equipment which may interfere with the
systems of the aircraft and affect the safety of the flight.
If you are transporting firearms and/or ammunition, you must contact the Arms Control Office (Intervención de Armas) at the departure airport in order to obtain the necessary authorisation.
If you wish to transport ammunition please note that, in addition to the indicated procedures, you will also require prior authorisation from the carrier and you must therefore provide details of the quantity and type of ammunition when you make your booking.
Arms and ammunition must be packed separately in a suitable case or container. They will be returned to you at the Arms Control Office at the destination airport.
RESTRICTED PRODUCTS ON FLIGHTS FROM EL AAIUN AND MARRAKECH
Pursuant to Commission Regulation (EC) 206/2009 of 5 March 2009, on the introduction to the Community of personal consignments of products of animal origin, and amending Regulation (EC) 136/2004, replaced by Regulation (EC) 745/2004, we hereby notify you of the following:
It is prohibited to bring in meat and dairy products in the personal baggage of travellers coming from third countries and other products of animal origin are restricted.
Failure to declare such products may result in a fine or criminal prosecution.
On BinterCanarias flights, and in the baggage of a passenger coming from an airport outside of the European Union, the following is permitted:
- Powdered infant milk, infant food and special foods intended for human consumption or pet feed, which are required for medical reasons, provided that their combined weight does not exceed the weight limit of 2 kilograms per person and that the products do not require refrigeration for their consumption, that they are packaged proprietary brand products, and the packaging is intact, unless in current use.

Carriage of Pets
Pets accompanying BINTER CANARIAS passengers on
their journey can be accepted as baggage on payment of the excess
baggage fee, where applicable, regardless of the free baggage allowance
the passenger is entitled to.
As a general rule, animals must be checked in and
stowed in the hold of the plane. Animals must be enclosed in a suitable
container which has adequate ventilation, is waterproof and provides
safety to the pet carried.
Occasionally pets may travel with their owners in
the passenger cabin, provided that in addition to fulfilling the previous
requirements, the passenger takes responsibility for the care and
carriage of the animal during its journey, without causing any kind
of disturbance to passengers nearby.
In this case, certain regulations must be followed
in relation to the maximum measurements of the container (45cm x 25cm
x 35cm), and the animal must not weigh more than 6 kg. Carriage of
animals on board BINTER CANARIAS planes is subject to acceptance by
BINTER CANARIAS.
It is advisable, when making your booking
or purchasing your ticket, either through the airline or through a
travel agency, to state your intention to take a domestic animal on
board and to make sure that on the day of travel you take with you
the animal’s vaccination card or veterinary certificate. This documentation
will be required by airport personnel in accordance with Order 2191
of 23 December 1999 of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands
and with (EC) Regulation 998/2003 of the European Parliament and of
the Council of 26 May 2003, both when the domestic animal is travelling
in the cabin with the client, and when it is travelling in the aircraft’s
hold.
Guide Dogs
Guide dogs do not need to be caged and may travel
either in the passenger cabin or in the hold. There is no charge for
guide dogs and there are no special procedures for them, except for
the requirement to be appropriately equipped with a muzzle, collar
and lead.
Special Baggage
The following items are considered special baggage:
- Power-driven Wheelchairs:
Acceptance on the Flight: To avoid possible
damage to the aircraft and for full flight safety, power-driven
wheelchairs are only accepted on the flight if they are carried
in the hold and if they satisfy the following requirements:
- Dry cell battery powered wheelchairs: Wheelchairs fitted with
non-spillable batteries can be carried as checked baggage provided
that the battery is disconnected, the terminals are insulated
to prevent accidental short circuiting and the battery is securely
attached to the wheelchair.
- Wet cell battery powered wheelchairs: Wheelchairs fitted with
spillable batteries may be transported as checked baggage provided
that the wheelchair can be loaded, stowed, secured and unloaded
in an upright position at all times, that the battery is disconnected
and secured to the wheelchair, and that its terminals are insulated
to prevent accident. If these requirements are not satisfied,
the battery must be removed from the wheelchair and carried as
checked baggage. The battery must be appropriately packed in the
following manner:
- The packaging must be leak-proof, resistant to electrolyte
and protected from violent movement.
- Batteries must be protected from short circuiting and travel
in an upright position in packaging surrounded by absorbent
material.
Free Baggage Allowance: Power-driven wheelchairs
are considered to be a passenger's personal effects or accessories,
and as such are not subject to excess baggage charges provided that
the use of the wheelchair is essential in the case of passengers
with special physical needs.
- Electronic Devices:
For safety reasons and in order to avoid possible interference with
the aircraft's electronic communication and navigation systems,
and to prevent any inconvenience to other passengers, the use of
the following devices is forbidden on board the aircraft: portable
radios (transmitters as well as receivers), cellular phones, television
sets, CD players, video cameras, laptop computers, remote-control
toys and any device with a light-emitting diode (LED) screen.

- Ski Equipment:
Ski equipment for snow or water consists of:
- One pair of skis, one pair of ski poles, one pair of boots or
one snow board.
- One pair of standard-sized water-skis or a single slalom water-ski.
Acceptance on the Flight:For acceptance,
all components of the ski equipment should be suitably stowed and
secured in such a way as to avoid any inconvenience or damage during
loading, carriage and unloading.
Excess Baggage:
- If the weight of the ski equipment plus the weight of the passenger's
remaining baggage does not exceed the free baggage allowance,
there will be no surcharge. If the weight of the ski equipment
plus the weight of the passenger's baggage exceeds the free baggage
allowance, the passenger will be charged either for 3 kg at the
special excess baggage rate, or the normal excess baggage charge
for the actual weight, whichever is more beneficial to the passenger
and provided that the ski equipment consists solely of the items
specified above. If the ski equipment consists of more items than
those indicated above, the normal excess baggage charges will
be applied to the surplus items.
- Golf Equipment:
Golf equipment consists of ONE bag containing
one pair of golf shoes and the clubs, and it should not exceed 15
kg in weight.
Acceptance on the Flight: For acceptance,
golf clubs must be secured inside the golf bag in such a way as
to avoid any inconvenience or damage during loading, carriage and
unloading.
Excess Baggage:
- If the weight of the golf equipment plus the weight of the passenger's
remaining baggage does not exceed the free baggage allowance,
there will be no special surcharge. If the weight of the golf
equipment plus the weight of the passenger's baggage exceeds the
normal free baggage allowance, the passenger will be charged either
for 6 kg at the special excess baggage rate, or the normal excess
baggage charge for the actual weight, whichever is more beneficial
to the passenger and provided that the golf equipment does not
exceed the established weight of 15 kg. If the golf equipment
exceeds 15 kg, the normal excess baggage charges will be applied.
For more than one set of equipment, the normal excess baggage
charge will apply.
- Surfing and Windsurfing Equipment:
One set of surfing equipment consists solely of one surfboard. One
set of windsurfing equipment consists of the board, boom, dagger
board, mast and sail.
Reservation of Space: For acceptance on the flight, space
must be reserved for this equipment before the passenger checks
in.
Check-in: Given the nature of this equipment, passengers
should arrive at the airport with enough time for it to be checked
in, transported to the aircraft and stowed in the hold.
Acceptance on the Flight: If the reservation of space established
above has been made, this equipment will be accepted on the flight
as checked baggage to be carried in the hold. If the corresponding
reservation has not been made, carriage of this equipment on the
flight will be subject to availability of space in the hold. All
parts must be appropriately stowed, packed and secured in such a
way as to prevent breakage and to avoid any inconvenience or damage
during loading, carriage and unloading.
Loading of the Equipment: Because of the characteristics
of this kind of equipment, which normally prevent it from being
transported on the baggage belts, the system for transporting this
baggage from the check-in area to the aircraft is left to the discretion
of the company's staff. Any extra expenses incurred will be charged
to the passenger.
Excess Baggage:
- Baggage of this kind will ALWAYS be checked in as excess baggage,
regardless of the passenger's free baggage allowance. For excess
charges, the following weights apply:
- Windsurfing equipment: 35 kg.
- Surfboard: 20 kg
- Other components (sail and so on): 15 kg
- Kite board equipment (consists of one board and one parachute):
20 kg
The above mentioned weights will be ALWAYS applied to luggage,
even though the real weight of the luggage does not match
these values.
Only ONE of the above types of equipment per passenger will
be accepted for carriage.

- Baggage of Declared Value:
When passengers with BINTER CANARIAS present baggage at check-in
for which they would like to make a declaration of special value,
the following regulations apply:
Check-in Time: Passengers wishing to insure an item of baggage
by making a special declaration of value in relation to the item
should arrive at the check-in counter with enough time, at least 3 hours before
the departure time of the flight, for the following procedures to be completed.
Opening of Baggage: Passengers will be asked to open the
baggage to which they attribute special value, as the existence
of such items must be verified before the corresponding excess baggage
receipt can be issued. The employee attending the passengers will
verify that the items to be valued are those that are inside the
baggage, in the quantity indicated by the passengers. Once this
has been verified, the passengers will be asked to lock the baggage.
Declaration Limit: For acceptance of baggage of this type,
the value must be in excess of 400 Euros per item. The maximum limit
per passenger for a declaration of value may not exceed 2.000 Euros
or its equivalent.
Charges: The percentage charged to the passenger is 15%
of the value declared. An excess baggage receipt must be issued.
Carriage with other airlines: Baggage of declared value will
not be accepted for carriage on other airlines without their consent.
