BinterCanarias currently operates with a fleet of 18 ATR-72 aircraft.
The ATR-72 is a very efficient model, with low operating costs and a design that achieves the best combination of space and comfort.
It was conceived as a totally new plane using the most up-to-date technology, and is ideal for short- and medium-haul flights. It is a high-wing turboprop aircraft, designed by Avions de Transport Regional, a company formed through a joint venture between two large European manufacturers, EADS Aerospatiale (France) and Alenia (Italy), in which each company has a 50% share.
Depending on the model, the propulsion consists of two new generation Pratt & Whitney motors, of type 124B, 127 or 127F, with a nominal power of 2,400/2,750 horsepower. The planes are designed to operate autonomously from small airports with short runways, and they have a maximum cruising speed of 280 knots (520 km/h).
