A Coruña, facing the Atlantic Ocean, is a perfect city for strolling and enjoying good food. It has beaches right in the centre and a long promenade that almost completely surrounds it, presided over by the Tower of Hercules.

The Galician city also has excellent museums such as the Fine Arts Museum, the House of Sciences, the Domus Museum and the Archaeological Museum in the San Antón Castle.

All of this is complemented by a gastronomy that is renowned throughout the country, marked by the excellence of its seafood and meat products from the interior of the province. The gastronomy of La Coruña brings together the best of the coast and the interior. The Rias Altas, Ortigueira and the Las Catedrales beach are not to be missed.

Santiago de Compostela Cathedral: the jewel in the Galician crown. The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, where the remains of St James the Apostle are said to lie, has been a place of pilgrimage for the faithful from all over Europe (and the world) since the Middle Ages. Completed in 1211, it took a remarkable 136 years to build, so isn't that enough for a visit?

Torre de Hércules: the lighthouse that illuminates the city of La Coruña. A World Heritage Site since 2009, it is the oldest Roman lighthouse in the world (dating from the first century) and the only one still in operation.

Cape Finisterre: on the Coast of Death, also known in the original Galician as Costa da Morte, Cape Finisterre was known until the discovery of America as the "end of the world" since it was thought to be the westernmost point of continental Europe.

Castro de Baroña: located on a small rocky peninsula called Punta do Castro, has around twenty circular homes and a wall that protected it from attackers. It was occupied around the first century BC and the first century AD.

Sweet and savoury; meat, fish, seafood, cheese or wine; stews or dishes that are eaten cold. The truth is that, whatever you eat in Galicia, it will be delicious. This is largely due to its raw materials and the special care taken in every part of the production process of its gastronomic products.

The Atlantic climate gives a distinctive touch to Galician wines, among which the whites stand out, ideal for pairing with fish and seafood. Galicia has five designations of origin (D.O.) in this respect, proof of the unquestionable quality of its wines.

Santiago cake, an original creation from the Galician capital that has crossed borders. It is one of Galicia's most typical sweet preparations. Eggs, almonds and sugar are its base, to which flour, cinnamon or lemon are sometimes added.

The castreña culture, the Galician peoples, the Romans or Germanic peoples such as the Suevi have shaped what Galicia is today, a fantastic place to spend a few days with your loved ones. When we talk about Galicia, we talk about a place with strong roots in its tradition, its customs and the purity of its surroundings. This can easily be seen in its festivals, its gastronomy and the places of tourist interest that still survive after centuries thanks to an excellent conservation effort.

Ribeira Sacra One of the most magical places in Galicia is precisely this, which extends through Lugo and Orense and includes the banks of the rivers Miño, Sil and Cabe. Spectacular viewpoints, routes for all ages, an extraordinary wine culture, beautiful villages such as Monforte de Lemos, an enviable architectural heritage of Romanesque influence – there are many reasons to visit the area.
