Unaccompanied minors

As a general rule, children under 12 must travel accompanied by another passenger, who must be at least 16 years old, although in Binter it is possible that a minor can travel without a companion in certain conditions with our unaccompanied minors service.

A valid passenger may accompany up to two infant (under 24 months) as long as one is 18 months and occupying a seat with a chair / adapter approved.

This service consists of the personalised accompanying in embarking, during the journey and on arrival for the children who will be under the care of the handling staff and the Binter Canarias cabin staff.

For minors of between 5 and 12 years, the accompanying will be obligatory due to aeronautical regulations and for their safety and they will have to buy a specific Unaccompanied Minor fare that already includes this service.

For those below 18 and who are ready 12 or older, accompanying is an optional service.

Aeronautical regulations limit the number of unaccompanied minors per aircraft so that it is important to make the request when making the reservation, which must be confirmed by BinterCanarias to ensure the service.

Minors below five years are not accepted for travelling unaccompanied.

Requirements:

- The adult who accompanies the minor to the departure airport must arrive sufficiently beforehand to fill in the liability waiver document, providing the data of the person delivering the minor and those of the person who will receive the minor on arrival.

- The person who delivers the minor at the check-in must ensure that the minor has the following documentation:

  • Ticket with confirmed reservation for the entire journey.
  • Liability waiver suitably filled in with the contact data for the person(s) to receive the minor.
  • Passports and visas, if necessary, and any other additional documentation.
  • Authorization drafted and signed by parent/legal guardian, together with a photocopy of the ID of the authorizing person, to be collected by our staff at the airport (only when the person who delivers the child is not his/her father / mother / legal guardian).
  • - The person responsible for the minor must not leave the airport until the aircraft takes off.

    - An adult must take care of the minor and must be present at the arrival airport, identifying him or herself to the company staff to receive the minor. For this purpose, he or she must accredit their identification with the relevant document and must sign the liability waiver on receiving the minor.

Reservations for the minors accompanying service are not accepted for flights connecting with other carriers nor for BinterCanarias flights that require an overnight stopover in an intermediate sector.

The handling staff will take charge of the minor from the moment that flight boarding starts in the passenger terminal with the documentation and check-in completed, accompanying the minor to the aircraft and handing it over to the cabin staff who will suitably accommodate it on board in a seat designated for its safekeeping and attention.

The handling staff will receive the minor on arrival, handing it over to the persons authorised in the liability waiver document in the airport passenger terminal. These authorised persons must accredit their identity with an ID card or passport.

    Minors over 12 travelling unaccompanied.

Minors of 12 and over and under 18 may travel unaccompanied although if they wish, they can use the accompanying service optionally, the conditions of this service are the same as the ones for the Minors of 12 years of age along with relevant cost.
