BINTER INCREASES THE NUMBER OF FLIGHTS TO THE ISLAND BY 11%

A meeting was held last Thursday in the island of La Gomera between Andreas Blass, General Manager of Binter Canarias, Victor Siverio, Commercial Director, and the President of the Island Council of La Gomera, Casimiro Curbelo and the Mayor of Alajeró, Manuel Ramón Plasencia. During the meeting Mr Blass announced the incorporation of an ATR plane with capacity for 72 passengers for the Gran Canaria ¿ La Gomera route on Fridays and Sundays, starting in July. With this incorporation the number of seats on offer from Tenerife and Gran Canaria to La Gomera will increase by 11%, to reach a total offer of 37,000 seats.
As Mr Blass declared later at a press conference, "this is a first challenge so that connections between La Gomera and the provincial capitals can become considerably strengthened".

In addition to this, the local authorities of La Gomera brought up the possibility of establishing connections from La Gomera to El Hierro, La Palma and Tenerife South. This request will be studied by the airline, and for this purpose initial contacts will be made with public and private organisations interested in these new routes, in order to analyse their viability. As Mr Blass indicated, "we need to make an analysis of the situation and carry out the appropriate studies so that if it is possible to establish these new routes, they can also be economically profitable".
