Los Gofiones

The history of the Canary Islands in song

Los Gofiones was born with the aim of researching, rescuing, creating and disseminating the popular music of the Canary Islands, both traditional roots and popular as well as the music of other communities with which the Canary Islanders have had a relationship throughout their history.

During this time its career has been endorsed by 22 records of its own, a multitude of collaborations with artists such as Silvio Rodríguez, Celina González, Cecilia Todd, Milladoiro, Los Panchos, Tamara and Lucrecia, among others, and more than 1,000 concerts given on the Canary Islands and a large part of the Iberian Peninsula and America. Thanks to its work, Canarian music has reached countries such as Cuba, Venezuela, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Portugal, participating in international festivals.

The group´ s work was once again recognised with the Canary Islands Popular Culture Award (Government of the Canary Islands) in 2018. Binter has been supporting this group for years, whose repercussion goes beyond the musical, currently consisting of 40 instrumentalists and singers of various ages, ideologies and professions.
